BBG Complex

The Complex is the base for all BBGs and associated staff during the Championships period.  It is a place to relax, rest and spend time with team mates, peers and other BBGs.  It is important that everyone is able to enjoy the space and as such I would ask that you read and act on the following instructions/guidelines.

Miss Goldson

There are THREE main areas to the Complex for BBGs:

  • The dining area
  • The toliets and changing rooms
  • The team assembly area

In addition, there is a bean bag area, lower office, where the Complex Supervisor (Mrs Lawrence) is based, plus a rear office, which is used for registration in the morning and on occasions as a quiet space for BBGs later in the day.

ENTRANCE/EXIT

  • On arrival in the morning, you must enter via the main entrance only
  • The door to the exterior staircase will not be in use this Championships during the day, unless there is an evacuation.  It will be used for departure at the end of the day only.
  • The door closest to No 1 Court will only be used for access to that court, but you must return via the main entrance

CHANGING ROOMS

  • Showers, towels and toiletries are available; you do not need to bring your own provisions
  • You are encouraged to make use of these facilities, especially in warm weather
  • Please do not congregate in this area; just use it as necessary and then come back into the main Complex
  • Lockers have been pre-allocated; you need a combination lock for your locker, do not buy a padlock with a key
  • Do not leave anything in your locker over night, if anything goes missing, it will not be replaced

DINING AREA

  • More information about the food provision will be provided nearer the time
  • This is a self-service dining area; please keep it tidy, you are responsible for returning your tray and recycling rubbish / food waste as required
  • Do not take too much food and end up wasting it please
  • Eating takes place in the dining area only; ensure you are seated when eating

BEAN BAG AREA

  • A great space for relaxing but not a space for eating!
  • Please leave this area as you would expect to find it
  • The bean bags are fairly robust but please do not throw them around; if any split, please notify a member of staff
  • Do not leave any uniform (caps, wristbands etc) in this area and expect to get it replaced if you lose it

GAMES

  • Table tennis, cards and board games are available at various times during the day
  • We would ask that you respect the equipment and return it neatly and when requested
  • The Table Tennis is not usually available during the first two days of the Championships, so that we can get into a good pattern of getting ready on time for court.  Please do not keep asking about it, you will be told when it will be available
  • Of course, there is always the opportunity to watch the Tennis on the many screens around the Complex!

THE LOWER OFFICE / REGISTRATION ROOM

  • Run by the Complex Supervisor, Mrs Lawrence; please do not just walk in but wait to be asked
  • Where you have any concerns, questions, lost/found items etc, this is the place to go
  • There will of course be staff in and around the main Complex area you can go to initially
  • The room behind the Lower Office is not a space for BBGs unless it is first thing in the morning for registration or during a designated quiet space at various points during the day.
  • Quiet space means exactly that, this is not a space for cards or any board games please; just for sitting and relaxing.

MOBILE PHONES

  • These are not permitted to be used in the BBG Complex (that includes the changing rooms).
  • Should you need to use your phone for any reason, then please ask
  • Better to ask than be found using it without permission, which could mean the end of your time at the Championships
  • At the end of the day, when told, you will be permitted to use your phone, to let parents/guardian know you are leaving etc, but once again, do not use if without permission
  • Your phone must be kept in your locker, not in your pocket
  • Do not take any photos within the Complex; this is strictly forbidden
  • Embrace the chance to be free from the distractions your phone brings should you have one; enjoy your time talking to and engaging with others, it is rare at your age that you get such an opportunity!
