Health & Safety

OUR PRIORITY

Your health, safety and well being is our first priority at the Championships.  Please read the following information carefully:

VIGILANCE

Please play your part in being vigilant on and off court:

  • Report anything that makes you feel uncomfortable; this can be done by the captain on returning to the Upper Office to sign back in or to the Lower Office on returning to the Complex
  • Check before going on court that all your team are present and accounted for

COURT INTRUSION

In the unlikely event that this occurs;

  • Stay in position unless your usual space is where something is happening, in which case, join another BBG on court
  • If necessary, leave the court and assemble together; a member of staff will come to you and give you further instructions
  • Do not involve yourself in anything that is not part of your role

PYROTECHNICS

  • Flares and pyrotechnics are dangerous items that should be left well alone
  • There are specific trained stewards with PPE kits to deal with this
  • Move to a safe space and await further guidance

THE HEAT

The first two days are scheduled to be hot; please note the following:

  • Your physical (and mental) well being is paramount; if you feel unwell at any time on court; please sit down
  • This is especially important if you feel faint or dizzy; someone will come to you
  • Acknowledging that you do not feel 100% is so important to us, please do not think it has any impact on your performance, that is secondary to your health
  • You must go to court with a full bottle of water (please add squash to it should you wish)
  • Sports drinks will be available on the first two days
  • Cool boxes with ice will also be available between courts to allow you to dip your hat in and / or wristbands; you will be advised of their location by staff near your court
  • We will also have 'cool bands' for around your neck should you wish
  • We encourage you to take a shower when off court; towels and all necessary tolietries are provided
  • We will be shortening shifts on the initial two days to minimise time on court.  In order for this to be carried out successfully and efficiently, it is vital you listen and act on instructions, so there is no delay getting out to court
  • Where a court is a good distance from the Complex, we will be looking to hold the replacement team in situ to allow more regular changeovers
  • On the first two days, if you arrive at court ready to change teams, we would encourage you to replace the team on court after the player warm up, after the first game in a set etc.  Do not wait, we want to avoid any team being on court for an extended period.  Do it quickly to minimise disruption but give the player space as invariably they may be standing near their chair
  • In between matches, we would ask you to come off court and seek some shade before returning to court for the next match; ideally speaking to a member of our staff team, who will suggest a place to wait.  You should be near the court, do not return to the Complex unless replaced
  • Finally, at any change of ends, can I ask that you glance across at your respective base and or centre and just check on them; responding with a nod to confirm you are ok.

EVACUATION AND ASSEMBLY POINTS

  • Information regarding this, will be shared in an email this evening
