Image guidelines

APPLICATION SECTION

  • As part of the online application, you are required to submit a recent passport-style photo of yourself
  • This is uploaded online and checked to ensure it meets the criteria
  • You have three attempts to get this right, so please read the advice below to avoid disappointment as this is an important part of the application procedure.

Please DO:

  • Ensure that the photo is a head shot; just the top line of your shoulders should be visible
  • Ensure you are appropriately dressed in the image; no vest tops please
  • Ensure you are looking directly at the camera
  • Use the 'slider' after loading to zoom in or out as appropriate
  • Take the photo in natural light to avoid shadows etc.

Please DO NOT:

  • Get an expensive professional photograph taken; this is not necessary, one taken with a phone will suffice
  • Take the image yourself, this often means it will be rejected as you are more often than not looking downwards
  • Leave a lot of empty space above your head, your face should fill most of the image, without being too close so that you are not totally visible
  • Have hair over your eyes, this will be rejected
  • Put any photo in there as a 'placeholder', this will be counted as a submission and will likely lead to a rejection of that image.

COMMON ERRORS AND A GOOD EXAMPLE

Explaination of errors:

1. Too dark and too much shadow

2. Too much space above the head

3.  Too much of the torso in the image; needs to be a head shot

4.  An ideal example
