Selection Sessions

SATURDAY 17 & SUNDAY 18 JANUARY 2026

Selection sessions for nominated candidates only will take place as allocated by school as shown below.  Please note the following:

• All sessions take place at AELTC Community Tennis Centre, 170 Grand Drive, London, SW20 9NB
• You need to arrive in practical kit with your shirt tucked in, hair tied back and with a clean pair of trainers to change into (please do not wear these on route to the dome)
• Please ensure you are not wearing make up/jewellery or chewing and that your hair is out of your eyes
• You should bring a bottle of water with you and ensure you remain well hydrated during the session
• On arrival, we ask you not to gather in the cafe area as this is for customers only.  Please wait outside the BBG Studio and you will be called in when we are ready to start
• Please arrive 15minutes in advance of the start time of your session to ensure we can get a prompt start

ASSESSMENT

• We can only mark you on what we see on the day, regardless of how good you have been in training at school
• Please listen and act on instructions, it will be clear what you need to do, but if in doubt, please ask
• You will be assessed in four areas; knowledge (via a written multiple choice test based on modules 1-6), fitness (via a warm up and speed tests), skills (via various static and dynamic drills) and lastly courtwork, where you will assume the role of base or centre for a few games (no scoreboard will be used, but an umpire and obviously players will be in place)

FINE MARGINS

• Success at these trials is often decided by the finest of margins; remember the detail matters
• Fidgeting, not listening to instructions, arriving with your shirt untucked etc, may make the difference between getting in and not
• Whilst we appreciate you will be nervous, we are looking for confidence and competence; be bold and go for it; holding back is likely not to get you through
• Remember it is not only what you do, but how you do it that is important; we are looking for a blend of neatness, urgency and stillness
