IMPORTANT PLEASE READ - As explanined having got through the training the week before half term, you should now see the 'accepted' status, but are reminded that this is purely on the basis of capturing transport information, this is not an indication of your acceptance for the Championships and everyone must continue to demonstarte the standard we need to progress further. Do not get complacent please.
Can I also ask that you check your email in case i have contacted you directly.
GENERAL TRANSPORT INFORMATION - QUALIFYING AND CHAMPIONSHIPS 2026
At various points this month, you will be asked to complete your transport options for Qualifying and the Championships period. Please note:
- Year 11 and above recalls - only those successful are required to complete the transport option please. The window will open after the reselection results have been announced. Seeing the request for transport is not an indication of the results, as all pending candidates will see the same screen.
- New trainess and Year 10 recalls - You are required to complete your transport details for both Qualifying and the Championships no later than Sunday 31 May. The window to complete this will open on Tuesday 26 May. Remember this is not an indiciation of being accepted for either event.
The home page of your BBG login will provide you with a link to complete your transport options or you can go to 'my details'. Can I ask that:
- You read the information below before making your options as changes later cannot be guaranteed and do cause logistical issues
- You complete your options within the timeline provided, which for Year 11 and above recalls is from Wednesday 13 to Wednesday 20 May
- Once again, just because you see a screen asking for your transport information, is not an indication you have been accepted, all Year 11 and above recalls will see that 'window'
Qualifying Competition:
- The event takes place between Monday 22 June to Thursday 25 June (we have captured availability for Year 11 and above recalls and schools will be asked to confirm availability across these four days for trainees at a later date).
- All trainees complete two days (or more should you wish) where permission is provided and where not, those trainees attend on their usual training day at the allotted time, unless it would usually be Thursday in which case it is likely you will be asked to on an alternate date, as that day is normally over quite early weather depending).
- The Qualifying is held at AELTC Community Sports Centre Roehampton, Bank Lane, London, SW15 5JT
- Arrival time is from 09:30, but you should be on site by 10:00am
- Departure is approx 18:30 but can be later depending on the weather and schedule of play. Transport cannot be provided part way through the day via AELTC coach.
The Championships:
- The event takes place from Monday 29 June to Sunday 12 July at AELTC, Church Road, Wimbledon, SW19 5AE. Whilst we do not retain all BBGs for the full duration of the Championships as clearly there will be fewer matches part way through the second week, this should not affect your transport choice.
- Championships availability for trainees will be requested later in June
- Arrival time at the Championships each day should be at 10:00am (but no sooner than 09:20) and departure is usually at about 21:30-22:00, but can be later depending on the weather and schedule of play. You should therefore consider your mode of transport carefully in light of the late departure time and equally any onward travel you need to undertake after alighting from the coach. Clearly there may be days where you need to arrive later or leave earlier but this can be communicated via your availability and should not affect your main mode of transport choice.
- Where there is late night play on Centre Court or No 1 Court, those BBGs involved will be provided with escorted transport home via the AELTC courtesy cars. Typically this will involve the Year 11 and above recalls.
TRANSPORT OPTIONS
As you can imagine, there will be large volumes of people travelling to and from both the Qualifying and the Championships, so we ask you choose your transport mode carefully in light of increased traffic in these areas. The options are as follows:
- AELTC Coach - Coaches are provided by Banstead who have been partnered with the Championships for many years and experienced in providing transport for schools. Please see coach stops below which vary for the Qualifying and the Championships
- Public transport
- Lift with family and friends - please share vehicles where possible and note there is no parking available. It is simply a drop off, near the venue.
- Bicycle - details of where you can store your bike securely at each venue will be provided in due course.
- On foot - again please consider the late departure (especially from the Championships) if you choose this method. You will be escorted to either Gate 5 (Church Road) or gate 13 (Somerset Road) on departure.
*Please note all BBGs will be escorted from the grounds at both the Qualifying and Championships as it is our duty to see you off the premises. We ask that you do not return unless there is a very good reason to do so.
